The ingredients needed to prepare Pumpkin sambhar:
- Take 1 bowl of Pumpkin.
- You need 3/4 cup of Coconut cut pieces.
- Prepare 3 of Red chillies.
- Prepare 2 tsp of sambhar masala.
- You need 1 tsp of Whole Coriander Seeds.
- Provide 2 of Tomatoes.
- Take 1/2 cup of tuar dal.
- Get 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- Use 2 tsp of jaggery.
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of red chilli powder.
Instructions to make Pumpkin sambhar:
- In a pressure cooker add pumpkin and thoor dal, 1 cup of water and let them cook upto 3 whistles.
- Take a pan add 3tbsp of oil,jeera seeds,tomatoes cut into medium pieces,coconut and let it cook for 3 min in medium flame.
- Add turmeric powder,Red chillies or sambar powder,coriander seeds/ coriander powder and cook for 3 mins with 1/4 th cup of water.
- Turn off the flame and let the mixture cool down to room temperature.
- Take a blender/ mixer grind the mixtture into fine paste. Note: half of the pumpkin along with thoor dal can be grind together with this mixture to increase the volume and maintain the consistency.
- Pour the mixture in the same pan add the rest of the pumkins and once starts boiling turn off the flame and serve hot.
- Delicious sambar ready to serve with hor rice,dosa,idly..
